She has portrayed the class discrimination in Pakistan effectively that's how servants are treated by elite class by mentioning how apart they are considered from other humans.
Disputes within families:
Due to extended families, every person in the family remains a part of quarrels.
Culture:
More prominently Pakistani culture is presented ,for this, Kamila Shamsie has used several Urdu words. Similarly she talks about mouth-watering culturally foods e-g biryani, nihari , kebabs etc.
Objections:
It is a challenging to keep a track of every character because of enlarge family and their complex relations with each other. Their co-related names are also bit confusing for non Asian people. Moreover , ending of the novel is quite unclear for the readers. But still it is lovable book that totally highlights land of Pakistan efficiently.
